Cake Boss Book review and giveaway

I am totally sure that by now the entire world knows who Cake Boss is. My love for cake decorating and learning new techniques has taken me to watch his show many times, I think that he and his staff are so talented. Buddy prides himself in that all of the shop's cakes and pastries are made from scratch, with no artificial flavorings or preservatives. I also love the fact that  he brings together his passion for baking and his high-energy family stories in the pages of this book complete with recipes and tips that will make every reader start baking.

I was lucky enough to be given a copy of the book for review and a giveaway from Free Press Publicity
and also a book to keep for myself ( thanks to the TLC Cake Crew organizers) .

This past weekend I decided to make Buddy's Red Velvet Cake, the recipe on his book calls for the use of shortening which I am not a fan of, but I have to say the cake was really good.

Would you like to win the book?

CAKE BOSS: The Stories and Recipes from Mia Famiglia (Free Press; November 2, 2010).

Just leave me a comment letting me know if you watch the show and what do you like about it? I am just curious.
The winner will be announce in this post on Monday Nov 29th.
Good luck and have a HAPPY THANKSGIVING !

I adore this show and LOVE every person who works in the bakery -- behind the counter and in the back/downstairs. What I love most about this family is the way they LOVE one another and the CRAZY pranks they pull on each other. It's sheer zaniness -- something like watching the "Three Stooges" only on a grander scale. I also LOVE how Buddy listens to his Mama. He's such a "good boy!" I would LOVE to win a copy of this book! Thank you!

  11. I never miss an episode. I love the family, how they can all work together and even though they have disagreements, they always pull together at the time. They play pranks on each other and really honor their parents, never missing an anniversary or birthday. That is so rare here where people have to move around so much.

Also, I that a lot of the cakes are challenges, like how to have smoke coming out of the firehouse cake without ruining it. Loved the old fashioned wedding cake for the couples that was also a way to remember his way. Also love the street that they are on is now re-named "Carlo's Bakery" Way. It was good to see Carlo's son in the ceremony for re-naming the street. Loved it when they went back to Italy and enjoyed seeing their realtives again.

I really, really would love to win this book.

  15. I have watched it before. I don't make a habit of watching that one, some of the bickering that goes on bothers me. But I do appreciate the amount of cake and the details they include are amazing!

  17. I love "Cake Boss"! I like how the show is so family oriented and that no matter what, they all stick together to make the awesome cakes. Even when a cake falls over or starts to melt because of the heat, they pull together.

  19. I watch the show every once in a while, but I must say I was most impressed with Buddy's stack of O magazines for some corporate anniversary for Oprah.

Also, it seems like every red velvet cake recipe calls for shortening or vegetable oil, don't you think? Kind of like a carrot cake.... What's your opinion?

  30. I love the show Cake boss! It is a great show and if I could bake a cake like him I would bake all the time. My favorite episode was when he made the plant. It was big and beautiful and the engagement ring cake was amazing! My co-worker from DISH and I always talk about going in and just having a cake done. I wish I really could. Be sure to be saving with DISH and no other company that is going to charge you more to watch "Cake Boss".www.BestTVForMe.com.
