Sweet 16 Birthday Cake

My first try with stencils and damask. Yes, I am that crazy!!!
I said yes to a client to something I have never made before, and then I hope for the best. Well, not really, I know what I am cable of and if I say yes, it is because I know I will be able to do it.

I am very happy how the cake turned and the most important thing is that the birthday girl loved it.

Here are a few shots from Instagram while I was testing the royal icing consistency and also the stencils. I got the stencil from Michael's ( with a coupon of course), it is Martha Steward's brand
and I cut it to suit my cake needs.

I covered the bottom tier in white fondant, and them I applied the damask pattern. I put the cake back in the refrigerator to get cool and then I worked on the second tier.

I did actually quilted the small tier before I stacked the cake.

I made the flowers using a hydrangea cutter.
It is hard to tell  in the picture, but when the cake was done, I steam it.

Thank you for stopping by, I hope you all are having a wonderful week.
