This is as close as I could get to a Juicy Couture shopping bag, my client provided me with a picture of the real bag and this is the best I could accomplish. This cake was a little challenging for me, it was my first time making a shopping bag and I really needed it to make sure the cake had good support for his trip to a New York City club in a car with a bunch of 21 year old happy girls. The picture, as usual, doesn't make any justice, but the cake was actually very tall.
The type of shoe my client requested was also very challenging to accomplish , I didn't use any mold for it, everything is hand made and oh boy!!!. I do not think I will be making this type of shoe any more, it is way too difficult to make, very time consuming and I find that people do not want to pay what the work is really worth. So sandals will be my only option from now on.
For the letters I used black Satin Ice fondant. I rolled the fondant out, let it sit for a few minutes and using a letter template that I created myself with the Juicy font and an exacto knife, I hand cut every letter and attached it to the cake with a dab of water. When you to this step, make sure do not use a lot of water or the letter might fall and leave a stain on the pink that is not quite easy to remove.
For the "tissue paper"( I made it in advance), I rolled the fondant really thin and cut pieces in different sizes.I placed the pieces on top of parchment paper and I let it dry over night. In this picture you can see that the "tissue paper" that I used for the side of the shopping bag is fresh rolled fondant so I could place it easily in any way I wanted.
I hope you are having a fabulous week so far. Thank you for stopping by.
love it! you did a great job. i completely understand the amount of work that goes into these details that actually make the cake, yet almost everybody fails to acknowledge. looking forward to your next cake. xxx
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love your work. I'm speechless!! This is beyond amazing!!
ReplyDeleteEs una obra de arte!!!!
ReplyDeleteBss.
Precioso trabajo y como te comprendemos los zapatos son muy difíciles y no se pagan lo que valen.
ReplyDeleteBesos.
Qué bonito te ha quedado!!!
ReplyDeleteUna obra de arte!!!!!
Besitos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Excellent job as always! Everything is beautiful, but I especially love the look of that super thin tissue paper. I could see through it! Now THAT'S thin!!
ReplyDeleteWOW! Your cake, and that shoe, was worth every penny, and then some! The shoe looks so realistic!
ReplyDeleteWow, look it at the detail on the shoe! I don't blame you for sticking to sandals from now on, I can only imagine how labor and time intensive it was to create. Regardless you did a fantastic job with the whole concept. :)
ReplyDeleteI can't even imagine creating a cake as spectacular as this. Well done!
ReplyDeleteWOWWW! AMAZING! I hope she paid you well for all your hard work. I'm sure that took FOREVER!
ReplyDeleteThe problem with doing such a great job is that you make it look easy - and I know that it is anything BUT easy! I don't think the average person appreciates the amount of time cake folks spend fussing over every little detail so they can imagine paying what it's really worth. Good thing we love what we do, huh? This cake was really excellent - bravo!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! That shoe is awesome!
ReplyDeletehow incredible! everything about it is perfect!
ReplyDeleteWow Kathia your cakes are becoming way awesome <3
ReplyDeleteThe shoe looks awesome, but you're right about it not being worth it. How about teaching us loyal followers though? :)
My two teens would go crazy for this. This came out amazing I think. I could imagine it would cost a lot to buy at a bakery.
