Warning: Extremely long post, as usual.
Have you noticed how popular cookie pops have become? Well, I am currently having an obsession with them, also with disco dust and the new Wilton pearl dust spray. So I decided to put all my obsessions in one place with these cookies using fondant instead of royal icing.
I know some people are intimidated by inserting a stick on a cookie, including me.So I decided to use craft sticks to make my cookie pops the easier.
To make these cookies start by getting the following cookie cutters:
Heart fluted 2.5 cookie cutter
Double heart cookie cutter 3.5”
You will also need the following supplies:
.Pink Fondant or any other color you like
.Small rolling pin
.Confectioners sugar
.Gold disco dust
.Pastry bag, tip and royal icing (stiff consistency)
.Craft sticks, found at any craft store
.Small flower cutter
Decorating the cookies:
-Start by dusting confectioners sugar on your rolling mat and roll the fondant out
-Using the same cookie cutters that you used to cut your cookies ,cut the fondant shapes.
-Brush your cookies with corn syrup and attach the fondant cutouts to the cookies.
At this point, if you want, you can just leave the cookies plain, wrap them in a cello bag, tie them with a pretty ribbon and you have a cute little treat to give away.
To make the cookie pops:
-Put the craft sticks on a baking sheet and pipe some icing on the top part of the stick, then place your cookies on top of the icing and let them set for at least 3 hours.
Now let's get the cookies shiny.A good amount of gold disco dust will do the trick.
You can find disco dust online at any cake or baking supply store.
-Start by placing the cookies on a piece of parchment paper or paper towel.
-Brush the cookies with a light coat of corn syrup
-Take the disco dust and gently shake it onto the cookies and let it set for a couple of minutes
-Shake off the excess disco dust from the cookie, you can also use a small paintbrush to dust the border areas of the cookie.
I love ruffles and puffy cookies, so here is another decorating option that you can make.
-Using a small rolling pin, roll your fondant out as thin as you can.
-Using a small flower cutter, cut lots of flowers.
-To make the “flower ruffle”, just take the flower, fold it in half, then fold it in half again and let it dry for a bit on a piece of parchment paper.
-Apply a thin coat of corn syrup on the cookie and attach the ruffles.
-To finish this cookie I did sprayed it with just a touch of pearl dust, this is something a little extra that I wanted to add, but the cookie will look great without it.
Have a great weekend everyone and thank you for stopping by.

ReplyDeleteDisco dust is not edible. It is non-toxic like glue, playdoh, etc.
