Fall is pretty much gone around here, on Wednesday afternoon we were hit by another storm, nothing as bad as the one from last week ( which let me homeless for almost a week). We had a few inches of snow and whatever pretty leaves were left on the trees are gone now.
I have this particular tree right in front of the back door of my apartment. I love this tree so much and I have taken countless pictures with my kids under that tree. In Spring is beautiful green and in the Fall the colorful leaves are endless.
The best part is the I do not have to clean up the leaves, so I'm pretty grateful about that.
I based this particular cake topper thinking of my tree, of course it doesn't have as many branches and leaves as the real tree but at least the idea is there.
Materials-Goodbye Fall cake topper:
.Floral Wire - 33 Gauge - Green
.Brown chocolate fondant
.Floral pliers
.Modeling tool to imprint the vein marks in the tree
.Small brush
.Coffee stir ( to place wires inside, and then in the cake) Great tip from Juanita of SweetThings Blog
Instructions:
.Cut the wires in different sizes and attach them to each other using the pliers. Insert tree trunk ( the one you made using many pieses of wires) into the coffee stir and then in the cake.
.Cover all wires with chocolate fondant ( use the small brush with a dab of water if nessesary to attach pieses of fondant to each other), you also can use modeling chocolate but I didn't have any in hand.
.Use modeling tool to imprint different patterns of veins in the tree's trunk and branches.
The small leaves under the tree were leftover from a cupcake order I had a few weeks ago. I used a combination of brown and orange fondant colors and a small cookie cutter to make them.
I also covered the cake with chocolate fondant.
AND NOW WHAT ABOUT A FABULOUS CAKE CHALLENGE?
Melissa, from The Baked Equation and I invited a group of talented bloggers to have some fun and make some yummy sweets along the way. Each of us were able to choose from any of the following categories to create a fall inspire dessert: creative cake, sugar topper, cupcakes or recipe.
We wanted to give different categories because what may seem easy to one is difficult for another. The most important thing was to share this project with all of you and hopefully make new blogger friends along the way.
We couldn't be any happier the way this project turned out.
Everyone was so talented and creative, just take a look of what they did
I want to thank everyone who participated in this fun project. I know some blogs will be new to you, so I encourage you to visit them and say hi.
