Easy Halloween Rice Crispy Treats

Here is my take on a quick Halloween Treat, specially if you have to make 50 ( like I did). I make my own Rice Crispy Treats, some how I think they are healthier than the ones you get at the store.

INGREDIENTS:

.1/2 a stick of butter or margarine

.10 oz. bag of marshmallows

6 cups of rice crispy cereal

PROCEDURE:

. Melt the butter on double boil
. Stir in marshmallows and mix until soft.

.Add the rice crispy cereal and stir until all the cereal is covered with the marshmallow mix.

I was going to make the treats right away so I just spread the mix on a cookie sheet and let it dry for a little. If you want to store the rice crispy for later use, just drop the mix on plastic paper and wrap it really tight.

(This is the same recipe that I use to make my cake toppers. Rice crispy treats are use to make figures and shapes. If you are going to make a figure for a cake topper make sure to add some shortening to your hands.)

To get the shapes of the treats I just use a ghost cookie cutter.

I inserted cookie sticks on them.

Using a Tip # 2 and black royal icing I made the eyes and mouth.

To finish the treats off I melted white chocolate and just pour it here and there to make them look like a "mummy ghost" = Combination of a mummy and a ghost. ( if such a thing exists!)

Enjoy!!!

Do you want to bake some creepy cupcakes for Halloween? Do you want this awesome book? I actually won one of these books a few months ago in a blog giveaway and I can tell you it is the BEST! the recipes and instructions are great. Well if you don't have it yet, here is your chance. I am offering my second blog giveaway ( my first one was a disaster!). To qualify, if you don't mind, you must complete two things:

1-Please sign up as a follower on my blog.
2-Leave me comment letting me know what is your favorite thing to do on Halloween. Stay home and open the door every second?, are you the one who turns the lights off so you don't have to give out candy?, do you like to go trick or treating with your kids? what ever!

I will put your names on a box and I will ask my precious Cami to pull a name out for me ( I have no clue how to use random.org). You will have a chance to enter until Tuesday the 20th at 12 noon, I will announce the winner on Wednesday the 21st in the morning so I will have time to get your prize out in the mail ASAP so you can make your Halloween cupcakes on time. Good Luck! I will be looking forward to read your comments.

Yes, you can make fun of me!!

I thought you might wanted to have a good laugh at my expense, so I just want to share some pics with you. This is me, here all I am thinking is ...how am I going to take this cake with me?

And yes, this is the cake that I took to Pennstation, NY and have it on my lap for 45 minutes, maybe more, no wonder my legs were numb! Cake is far from over, it is sitting in my refrigerator!

Ladybugs,snails, and lots of butterflies!

oh boy, I have had a really busy weekend but I had so much fun. Friday night I finished my Garden Cake very late at night and Saturday I spend all day in New York taking cake decorating classes with my meet up group, for a little pick just go here, let me tell you I had so much fun sharing with these ladies, everyone is very nice and we got to talk about cake , techniques, prices and client's stories. My trip back to NJ was a nightmare, just to give you an idea I carried a 20 pound cake without a box on the train, on my lap, yes on my lap! I think I was the main attraction at Pennstation! By the time I got to my car my legs were numb. I wasn't able to finish my cake on the class, and I haven't finished it off at home yet, but I have it in the refrigerator and I will finish it for you to see it. I took a lot of pics of the process, I will post them soon. In the mean time...

Here is the cake for the most adorable little girl . This baby is so friendly, every time I see her she has a smile in her face. It really makes me want to have another baby soon, soon? really? never mind! The first time I spoke with my client, she said she didn't have a theme for her baby's 1 st birthday party, she said she liked butterflies and ladybugs. I love when people are not afraid of something different and special. After a few sketches and lots of emails , here is the result. I love the hot pink color on the cake. First tier is chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream and the second tier is vanilla cake with chocolate frosting.

All decorations are made out of fondant and gumpaste. I made all the butterflies in advance, I inserted the wire inside the butterflies bodies before they were dry. Well girls, I hope you like it. I would love your feedback.
Patricia: The camera was a gift from a good friend, it is a Canon EOS 10 D, I hope I wrote it the right way, I love her. One of my friend's husband is teaching how to use it.
Snooky Doodle : I have the rice crispy treats on my mind, I will do it, I promise.
Me and my pink mixer: I love that name
Laura: Your pictures are making me fat.
Juanita: I love your new website
To all of you, thank you so much for your comments. Stay tune I will have a really nice giveaway soon, you so deserve it!

??

Hi Girls, I hope you are doing well. Thank you so much for taking the time and leaving me comments on my last post, I really appreciate and love your feedback on my cakes. I have been pretty busy lately, I only have had one day off in the last 2 weeks at work. I have been working with gumpaste in the last week after I put Cami to bed, I have made butterflies, ladybugs, caterpillars and a few more details for a cake due this Saturday. I can't wait for you to see it!I will be using hot pink and lime green colors, it has a Garden Theme. On Saturday I'm going to the city to take classes all day. I will be making a sculpted cake using a sculptor's armature, we are making a cake from the book "Where the Wild Things Are", I am sure it will be a lot of work, I have no idea how am I going to carry all the materials in the train, I am assuming many bags and I will be wishing to be an octopus! jajajaj. I am planning on taking a lot of pictures every step of the process, maybe you guys can make your own at home. Mean while here are some pictures from some cookies I made a few days ago. My camera and I are becoming really good friends, I can say she is my new BFF.
