Why should I have birthday candles in my house?

After  the past few weeks making...
Chocolate cupcakes with Vanilla Frosting
Vanilla Buttermilk cake with strawberry mousse and chocolate frostingChocolate cupcakes with cream cheese and chocolate frosting

Banana cupcakes with peanut butter frosting plus 50 cookies and 3 more cakes...
The only thing I really wanted to do on Sunday was seeing my little girl blowing bubbles. My husband in the other hand wanted a little birthday party for me. See, I don't really like his idea of "party", it usually means that I cook, I do the shopping, I do the cleaning before and after. ( all of this because I think I am the only one who can do it right), but not this time. he did everything himself. And then the question comes...do I make my own birthday cake? and the answer is NO! I don't really want to bake more and I don't want to eat cake.
So my wonderful husband said that a birthday without a cake is not a birthday, which I totally agree, he went and got me and ice cream cake from Cold Stone.
And then, we have to sing.... oh but wait... he looks at me and ask me where are the birthday candles? What? I do not have birthday candles in the house. Why should I have birthday candles in the house? oh, someone said:  you make cakes and you don't have candles! yes, I do make cakes but it doesn't mean that I have to have candles or forks or plates for my clients/ family in my house all the time. Plus it is my birthday, I am not the one who has to worry about having candles in the house. As you can see, he is very creative!
I have to say that the cake was really good, we all love it and my husband did everything  by himself

Happy birthday!!! Love how your hubby made a candle.

As for the candle debate - you are absolutely right. I delivered a birthday cake to an event once and a lady asked where the candles were. I had to remind them that I was the cake lady, not the candle lady. :)

I love the cupcakes - the chocolate ones! I too am a HUGE fan of Cold Stone {try the dark chocolate, add some peanut butter and add in chocolate chips}...I'm thinking your husband and you are quite the pair and quick thinking on his part with the improptu candle :)

What a good man to figure out a way for you to have a candle and make a wish. I totally agree, you should not be making your cake for your b-day. Cold Stone was a fabulous idea! Also, your little stickers for your boxes are absolutely adorable. Love em' :)
