Beatiful Spring Day

Spring is here, finally!! I have starting to get really tired of this long winter. Saturday was a lovely day, since Cami is feeling better I decided to take out to get some fresh air. Here she is wearing a skirt for the first time, she still needs to get use to it, she keeps pulling it down to cover her legs. It is her first time using sandals too, she didn't enjoy them, it was kind of hard for her to walk, we just have to keep practicing.

Ok, is not all about the smile, she tried to eat the flower!

New Upcoming Projects and Giveaway

I am so excited about this post, keep reading I will tell why. Well, last week I met someone when I was delivering the Sesame Street cake, I spoke with this person just for a little bit since I was pretty much on my way to the emergency room. It turn out this person need it a birthday cake for May 2, I offered my services and we agreed to talk today to discuss price and details on the cake. When I call this person today I was a little scare about telling the price, since good cakes are expensive and sometimes people just don't understand the amount of work that I big cake has. To my surprise not only am I going to get pay what I ask for, but a few extra bucks, which come very handy. Since I am always reading all the giveaways that other blogs have, and of course I always enter and I never win, I thought that it will be fun to have one myself. I don't have a lot of money, so this is a very humble giveaway ( if I win the lottery soon, future prices can improve)
So this is my idea: I will giveaway a $15 gift card , you can pick any of these stores(pick just one, is only one gift card)
-Michael's ( because I love to use their coupons)
-Panera ( because I could eat there everyday)
-Wegmans ( I love their cheese bread)
And I am choosing these stores because they are the ones closes to me. Besides, come on, who wouldn't like to get a free gift card?
But this is what you have to do: Guess how many of these little white balls I am going to use to decorate the borders of the cake that I am making for this person that I just met. You can also guess who is the cake for? you might get and extra opportunity in case more than one person guess the right amount of little balls. (just to give you and idea the cake will have three tiers). This cake is due May 2nd, so you have plenty of time to think about it. I will announce the winner on Sunday afternoon. This is another project that I am working on right now. Is a shoe box cake due next Friday for a retirement party ( I have no clue why they order this kind of cake, but money is money!)
This is a hand made tiara, I used gumpaste and I will let her dry and then I will paint it with gold luster dust. I will be using this tiara and the sentence below for the "Mystery Client Cake"

I will be looking forward to read your comments. Take care

Emergency Room and Sesame Street Cake

I know this is an interesting title for my post, but I have had a really hectic weekend. Saturday and Sunday we spend the night at the emergency room, the baby had a really bad temperature and a stomach virus. Thank God she is feeling way better now, she is eating and she seems more active, we have been really worry. Here is here today with a little purse that my mom made for her and send it from Costa Rica.
In the middle of all this health issues I had to make a cake, some how I did it with the help of my husband ( no , he didn't decorate the cake with me, he watched the baby) This is Cami on our way to deliver the cake, she doesn't look good, so our idea was to say hi, since the birthday boy was my godson and then leave. That's exactly what we did, said hi and left to the hospital again, her fever was 104 and we spend the night there.

This is the birthday boy, just look at his adorable smile. He was really happy seen Elmo.
Here are a few details, my original idea was to make the characters out of fondant and using royal icing for their details, but that takes a lot of time and I really didn't have it. The fastest solution was run to Michal's and buy them .

The cake, as you can see has 3 tiers, I made Red Velvet with cream cheese frosting and vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream.

Easter Lunch

Camilla got this beautiful Little kitchen from my friends, she was very happy. After lunch some of the guest were out side playing and getting some fresh air. Here is Cami with my friend Shirley blowing bubbles, mean while I am inside with a high fever but eating cheese like there was no tomorrow.

Here is Cami at the table, she wasn't in her best behavior.

Some guest ready to play the "egg game" really hard to explain, but all I can say is that I won!! yuppie since I never win anything, that was my moment.

The place setting..just adorable. All lavender, my favorite color.

I miss you so much!

Easter Sweets

I hope everyone had a nice Easter, my was quite interesting. On Friday, before Ester weekend I baked some of my sweets. My friend Lauretta invited me to spend the day at her house, my share was to bring dessert. I was happy I baked everything pretty much on Friday because Saturday morning Camilla woke up with a really bad cold, runny nose and high fever, so I spend my day taking care of her and her really bad mood, but I don't blame her, she wasn't feeling well. Your not asking, but by Sunday morning she was not improving and I was feeling like crap... headache, runny nose!! Button line I have been sick for 4 days. Any way here are some pics from my baking day. Key Lime Tarts
Chocolate cupcakes filled with semisweet chocolate ganache and top with strawberry whip cream and fresh strawberries.

Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting.

Cookie Town...

Isn't this one cute? I pipe royal icing, let it set, them paint it with pear luster dust . I could have used black icing for the legs, but I was so tired that I decided to just paint it with an eatable black market.
