Surprise Virtual Book Release Party for THE DECORATED COOKIE-Snowman Cake

Just in case you didn't know, Meaghan of The Decorated Cookie Blog has a new book out SUGARLICIOUS!  did you get your copy yet? it's a must have!
Today is the book's release day and Sue and I are hosting a Virtual Book Release Party, so come in and join us. You won't want to miss all the creative ideas that some awesome bloggers have put together inspired by The Decorated Cookie.
Meaghan is not only very talented taking sweet treats to another level but a true example that hard work pays off.
I am really gratefully for all the ideas and tutorials that she has posted on her blog.

So let's bring the sugar...
This is what I am bringing to the party, a Melting Snowman Cake with a Valentine twist inspired by  her melting snowman cookie, which is pretty much everywhere and she would be totally rich if she were getting any profit from it, am I right?

To make this little cake you will need:

.8 inch square cake
.white fondant ( I used Satin Ice)
.Orange fondant
.Red candy
.3' inch round cookie cutter
.buttercream
.black edible marker
.pink fondant heart
.2 pieces of pretzels
.small brush and water ( to attach nose, heart and snowman head's to the cake)
.rolling pin
.confectioners sugar

To make the cake:
-Using the round cutter cut two round layers of cake

Photobucket
-Fill the bottom layer of the cake with buttercream and place the next layer on top
-Then frost your cake with the remaining buttercream
-Put the cake in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour

Photobucket
-Knead your fondant with some shortening  until it has a workable consistency.
-Dust your rolling mat with confectioners sugar to prevent sticking and roll out your fondant lifting it and moving it as you roll.
-Cover your cake in fondant.( I actually covered the top of the cake with a second layer of fondant to give it more of a melting look)
Photobucket
- To make the head just make a small ball of fondant, draw eyes and mouth using the edible black pen.
-For the nose just make a thin oval shape
-Attach fondant heart, nose ,pretzels and head with a dab of water.

Congratulations to The Decorated Cookie, I am sure her book with be a success.

Meaghan, this cake's slice was for you, but since you weren't here
I ate it for you!

Now it’s time for you to visit all of the other bloggers who are bringing some sweets to the party:

Never before have I seen it replicated in a cake form and today Kathia you have set the bar! What a perfect gift to bring to this party, it is awesome and adorable! Thanks so much for asking me to be a part of this wonderful recognition for Meaghan and Sugarlicious. Would not have missed it for the world.
