Nautical/Mini Crab theme birthday cake

What a fun cake was this one to make! I have said it before, I love making colorful cakes, and this is a color palette that I adore.
I have made a similar cake before, just smaller, and my client wanted something similar, just bigger. Well, bigger is always better.

The details on the cake were made with a mix of fondant and tylose to make them a little extra firm, but not too hard.
I made the boat with gumpaste days in advance the delivery date to make sure it was going to be completely dry the day I need it.
I like using candy melts to attach big cake toppers to my cakes.

This is the smash cake I made for the little boy.

Nautical Theme 1st Birthday Cake

One of the reasons I love making cakes is being part of special moments.
I made this cake for a little boy turning 1, his mom had a Nautical theme party in mind and wanted a cake to match the party invitation and décor.

I didn't have cutters for the sizes of the elements that I needed to incorporate in the cake, so I got some templates online, printed them out in the size I need them and hand cut them .

I did had a handy letter mold of the letters.

I used a Styrofoam ball to make the crab because I was short in time, but rice crispy treats will work great. For the crab I use all gumpaste.

I also made a little smash cake for the birthday boy.
